Purpose
The purpose of this book is to capture and transfer existing expert technical knowledge related to the requirements, design, manufacture, testing, safety, deployment and operation of spacecraft LIB power systems. The level of treatment is based on a practical rather than theoretical approach and characterizes the technical aspects of the entire life cycle of spacecraft LIBs. Each chapter of this book provides comprehensive technical details that will be useful to industry practitioners directly involved in new or existing programs to develop advanced spacecraft LIB-based power systems. In addition, academics engaged in research and development, classroom teaching, hands-on learning and other educational environments will also greatly benefit from the depth and breadth of the book’s content.
The book is also suitable for undergraduate and graduate students who require an industry-oriented treatment of lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries and battery applications.
